Corvée Àgole Pinot Nero D.O.C. (Case Of 6)

Corvée was a French term used in the Middle-Ages to describe the activities and work of the Vassals, who would work on the land of superiors for free in return of shelter and protection; this is how 400 Km of terraced cultivations originated in Val di Cembria. Today, local wine producers sharing the same core values use the term Corvée in name of a project that concentrates on the production of high quality Trentino D.O.C. wines with the particular focus on sustainability. Each wine produced displays the name of their vineyard on the label. The name of this Pinot Nero vineyard derives from “Piz delle Àgole”, a viewpoint where you can see the Lagorai chain, the Dolomites, and, downstream, the vineyards of Corvée – it is therefore considered the summit, as is this Pinot Nero: a vantage point to fully understand the peculiarities of the terraces of the valley of Cembra. After a manual harvesting towards the end of September, temperature-controlled fermentation occurs in stainless steel tanks followed by refinement for about 18 months in 228lt French oak barrels, plus bottle ageing of about 6 months before release. This wine is presented in an eclectic robe which contrasts between a fresh acidity and a youthful balanced taste that’s long, almost prudent. The body is sturdy and the tannins dense, with great harmony. The bouquet is intense, with strong notes of red fruit and with delicate hints of violet, liquorice, truffle, cocoa and cloves.
