Fixed force gas struts are pre-set to a specific force (pressure) rating. If you need to replace a like for like and you know the force and exact length, we recommend fixed force gas struts. Can I replace my gas strut with a fixed force strut? If you know the exact length and force of your old strut, the fixed force gas struts are the most reliable solution. The force rating should be written on the body of the old strut. Find the part number and locate where the force rating is listed in Newtons (e.g., 500N). How to measure the length of your fixed force gas strut? You must measure the original length from center of the end fittings to center of the other end fittings when the gas strut is fully extended, not the total length. My old gas strut doesn’t indicate the force? If the force is unknown or if this is a new application, we recommend an Adjustable Gas Strut, which you can find here. What end fittings will I need?
